Kaleidoskoop Pre-selection

STARTER programme ends with business and project ideas competition Kaleidoskoop. In the pre-selection round, the 5 best teams will be selected to compete in the finals, where teams will compete for tickets to the business festival Slush in Helsinki, a monetary award from Tartu City and tickets to the next sTARTUp Day.

Kaleidoskoop is not just the final event of the STARTER programme but an opportunity for teams to be seen and to introduce their product or service.



Pre-selection is open to all early-stage student teams that…

  • Have been developing their idea for no more than a year.
  • Have not been awarded at previous Kaleidoskoops.
  • At least 50% of members studying at universities, vocational or general education schools.
 

What are we looking at pre-selection?

  • The essence of the problem
  • The novelty of the solution
  • Product market  fit
  • Progress made including MVP
  • Team's competence
  • Pitching skills

Requirements:
  • At least 50% of the team members should be students from universities, vocational or general education schools.
  • All the teams have 3 minutes for a pitch. 
  • The teams will have 4 minutes for questions from the jury.
  • A perfect pitch would include the following information: team name, description of the problem, offered solution, potential market, competition, business model, the competence of the team.
  • A pitch can be either in English or Estonian. But keep in mind that TOP 5 at sTARTUp Day can only pitch in English!
  • Up to 3 slides can be used. Send them to kristian.kutsar@ut.ee before the end of 4th May. Slides need to be ppt files in size 16:9 and may not contain animations (because these might not work).NB! Organizers have prepared a slide with the team name for each team.
  • Teams must be registered before May the 3rd 23:59.

Jury:  Ants-Oskar Mäesalu (Co-founder & CTO of TRIT), Hanna-Liis Remmelg ( Business Incubator Manager at Tartu Science Park S2B Launchpad) and Joosep Sild ( Co-founder of SmartVent).


The finalists will be announced on the Startup Lab web page, Facebook and Instagram!


The event is funded by the European Social Fund.
