Team Harakas won Student Startup Camp 2020!

The 7th Student Startup Camp (SSC) took place on 4th to 7th of February at the University of Tartu Delta Centre. The annual entrepreneurship boot camp designed to build ideas into working prototypes was organized by Garage48, UT sTARTUp Lab and UT Institute of Computer Science. It brought together over 110 students! Student Startup Camp ended with a pitching competition won by team Harakas, who is digitalizing paper notes in music industry.

Baltics’ biggest business festival sTARTUp Day took place for the 4th time on 29-31 January in UT Sports Hall in Tartu with 4400 visitors, 158 speakers, and 4 stages. Although the Head Organizer Marili Vihmann said the aim was to keep the same number of attendees as last year - around 4000 guests, the festival still grew by 400 visitors. The festival had visitors from 60 different countries.

UT received 50,000 dollars from US supporters

The Harry and Reba Huge Foundation, which has supported the mobility of UT students and lecturers with Nebraska Wesleyan University and the College of Charleston for the past ten years, has in the last years also contributed to promoting entrepreneurship among students. Recently, the foundation and university signed an agreement according to which the foundation will support research-based business ideas of entrepreneurial students with 50,000 dollars to the Vega Fund.

May 19th marked the date of Kaleidoskoop’s preliminary round. After a long day of pitching, debate and constant feedback, 15 teams out of 28 were chosen to enter the final round of Kaleidoskoop. The teams had 2 minutes to pitch their idea to a panel of 8 judges, who then had 5 minutes for additional questions.

Vega fund grantee develops measuring blood pressure with 3D images of blood vessels

The University of Tartu and SEB Vega fund divided 20 100 euros between four teams for developing knowledge-intensive ideas. The funding helps to develop, for example, an automatic system for measuring blood pressure in real-time and a security system which makes keys and smart cards a thing of the past.
