IdeaLab starts a practical entrepreneurship program in Ukraine
In September 2017 UT IdeaLab will start a project for developing practical entrepreneurship education in Ukrainian universities. The aim of the project is to promote the entrepreneurial attitude and develop entrepreneurship skills of Ukrainian students, based on the Estonian best practices.
Hands-on business development program is designed to strengthen Ukrainian students' entrepreneurial skills and knowledge as well as support the development of practical entrepreneurship education in local universities. During the project, the students will learn how to develop an idea into validated business model, therefore the program will improve students' entrepreneurial abilities as well as their social skills.
The program will be created basing on UT IdeaLab's preincubation program STARTER experience and executed in cooperation with Ukrainian partners, offering practical skills in business idea development as well as knowledge for starting the enterprise. The semester-long program will consist of seminars and workshops, beginning with inspirational event and ending with business ideas competition.
According to Piret Arusaar, Head of University of Tartu Centre for Entpreneurship and Innovation and one of the initiators of the project, the STARTER program has been successfully launched and received a lot of positive feedback in Estonia. "The program has engaged several universities and educational levels. We are glad for the opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with other countries. We've had several Ukrainians who have started their businesses here at IdeaLab - I believe that local students are also that enthusiastic and open for new experiences," says Arusaar.
Besides IdeaLab, the main executor of the project will be the NGO "PIP" that also offers a practical entrepreneurship education for students, having four Ukrainian universities in their network:
Kyiv National Economic University, Taras Schevchenko National University of Kyiv, National Aviation University and Donetsk National Technical University.
The project will start in September 2017 and will run until May 2019.
